David Wayne Niver

David Wayne Niver, formerly known as the Fresh Prince of Plant City, and more recently as Superman, was born on January 30, 1980, in Lakeland, FL. He was predeceased by his Dad Don Niver, as well as his grandparents, an uncle, and a niece.

He's survived by his Mom Sally Kimbrell, Second Dad Lee Kimbrell, brother Dan Niver, sister in law Keva Niver, step brothers William Kimbrell (Danielle) and Trevor Kimbrell (Emily), nephews Dajuan and Xayvion Niver, nieces Jazmyne and Ajeyaa Niver and Allison and Morgan Kimbrell, a great nephew Oliver Shafer, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many amazing friends. He died at his home on Monday, August 17, 2026.

He attended Hope Lutheran Church all his life and was baptized and confirmed there.

He served many years as acolyte and usher. His faith was a completely trusting faith with never any question and he was indeed an example and encouragement to everyone.

He participated in Special Olympics gymnastics, soccer, track and field, swimming, golf, basketball, bowling, and volleyball. Thanks to his Boy Scout Leaders and members of troop 744, he was able to accompany them attending week long camps out of state many years. Also with their help, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

He played on the team for The Lighthouse for the Blind in their Beepball fundraiser games and supported their Dining in the Dark fundraisers.

He spent several years as a "Golf Cart Technologist" at Plant City Golf Club and then Walden Lake Golf and Country Club.

He loved to dance and attended dances whenever he could. He enjoyed going to the plays at Plant City Entertainment. And his birthday parties at Hungry Howie's were a major event every year. Everywhere he went, he wore his Superman shirt, socks, shoes, and cape.

Supe (short for Superman) had a fantastic sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. His smile was contagious. He loved buying meals for people he didn't know, especially if there were children involved. He was generous and even a couple times, gave the cape off his back to someone. Loved to smile and wave to people.

He was a faithful blood donor for many years and retired from that after donating 10 gallons of blood.

Despite the challenges Down's Syndrome sometimes presented, despite his very poor vision, and ultimately despite Alzheimer's Disease, he maintained maybe partly because of his Down's Syndrome-his positive, joy-filled, laughter-filled attitude, always knowing and trusting Jesus. Again, he touched so very many people-some he knew and many he didn't. When he went places, he left smiles in his wake.

Thanks to all of you, his friends, for your love and support through the years.

Superman's family, part of "the lucky few", indeed thank God for the honor of having this incredible person in our family.

A celebration of David's earthly life and his new life in Heaven will be held September 12, 2026, at Hope Lutheran Church, 2001 N Park Road, Plant City, 33563. Visitation will be 10-11AM with the service beginning at 11, and a reception following. Those attending are welcome to wear a Superman or other superhero shirt.

In lieu of flowers, he may be remembered by gifts to Hope Lutheran Church or your favorite charity, or pay for a meal for someone you don't know, and always pass out your smiles freely.
