David Brass Sr. Obituary

David Franklin Brass Sr., a man known for his boundless love, infectious humor, and selfless nature, passed away on June 5, 2025, at the age of 67 in Lakeland, Florida. Born on February 27, 1958, in Dunnellon, Florida, David leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity.

David's early years in Dunnellon were marked by the nurturing care of his parents, Kenneth and Mary Brass, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up alongside his siblings, Carl, Roger, Gene, Eddie, Terry, Laura, Linda, and Shirley, in a home filled with love and laughter. Though Carl, Roger, Gene, and Linda have passed on, the bond among the siblings remains a testament to the family's closeness.

David's life was further enriched by his beloved children, Jake Johns, Sheila Brass (Robert), David Brass Jr. (married to Vontrice), and Nikki Kelly (married to Josh). His role as a father was one he cherished deeply, guiding and supporting his children with unwavering devotion. His family grew to include nine grandchildren, Rita Jane, David III, Jacob, Kaytlyn, Josh Jr., McKayla, Emma, Anthony, and Aaliyah, and three great-grandchildren, Carter, Presley, and Waylon, all of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

Known for his love of vintage cars and trucks, David could often be found tinkering under the hood of a classic vehicle, his hands expertly bringing engines back to life. His green thumb was evident in the lush gardens he cultivated, a testament to his connection with nature and his love for the Earth's beauty.

David's compassion extended to all living creatures, and his pets were treated with the same kindness and care he showed to his human friends and family. He was indeed a free spirit, with a magnetic presence that drew people to him, earning him the affectionate title of a "ladies' man." Yet, it was his loving and caring heart that truly defined him.

Those who knew David will remember him for his ability to light up a room with his humor, often sharing jokes and laughter with anyone in need of a smile. His selflessness was evident in his readiness to give the shirt off his back to help someone in need, never expecting anything in return.

David Franklin Brass Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will continue to inspire and influence all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the unforgettable impact he made on the world and the beautiful memories he leaves in his wake. David's spirit, forever free and loving, will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
