David Jackson Barber, age 77, of Plant City, Florida, passed away on April 3, 2026. He was born on July 25, 1948, in Hahira, Georgia, and lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and a deep love for his family.
He was the beloved son of the late Jason and Olamae Barber and the brother of the late Donald Barber. David carried the values of his upbringing throughout his life, and those who knew him will remember him as a loving, faith-filled, and selfless man whose gentle spirit touched many lives. He was a steady presence to those around him, and his kindness and sincerity were evident in all that he did.
David was united in marriage to his devoted wife, Edna Diane Barber, on September 18, 1973. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership built on love, commitment, and shared devotion to family. Edna preceded him in death on August 27, 2021, and their bond remained a cherished part of his life. Together, they built a family that was the center of David's world and the source of his greatest joy.
He was a loving father to Michael Barber and his wife Tonya, Tammy Kinard, Alfored Barber, Jason Green, and Davanne Wenteler (Wayne). David treasured each of his children and took great pride in the lives they built. He was also a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and a great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense happiness. His family will remember the warmth of his love, the strength of his example, and the quiet ways he showed his care every day.
David loved his Bible and found strength, comfort, and guidance in his faith. His relationship with the Lord was an important part of his life, and he lived in a manner that reflected his beliefs. He was known for his thoughtful spirit and enjoyed crossword puzzles, which gave him moments of quiet enjoyment and reflection. He also loved the outdoors and found great pleasure in fishing and boating, activities that allowed him to appreciate the beauty of creation and the peace of time spent outside.
Those who spent time with David knew that he valued simple joys, honest conversation, and the company of those he loved. He had a calm and steady presence, and his life was a testament to the power of devotion, humility, and love. He will be remembered not only for the roles he held as husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but also for the character he displayed each day through his actions and his faith.
David's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him. His memory will be cherished for his loving nature, his unwavering faith, and the selfless way he cared for others. Though he will be deeply missed, the example he set and the love he shared will continue to live on through generations of family who were shaped by his life.
