Craig DeVane Obituary

Craig Addis DeVane, a cherished family man, and a master of all things mechanical, passed away on March 3, 2024, at the age of 60 in Spring Hill, Florida. Born on January 27, 1964, in Plant City, Florida, Craig's life was a testament to the power of friendliness and skillfulness, leaving a legacy of warmth and ingenuity that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Craig spent the majority of his career nurturing the growth of both plants and people at D&D Plant Nursery. His dedication to his work was surpassed only by his commitment to his family and his passion for motorcycles. A man who could fix anything, Craig's hands were rarely still, always working on a new project or tinkering with an engine, his love for mechanics shining through in every endeavor.

He is survived by a loving family who revered him: his son, Derick DeVane, and daughter-in-law, Jessica; his brother, Kevin DeVane, and sister-in-law, Susan. Craig's memory will also be cherished by his adoring grandchildren, Delylah DeVane, Everly DeVane, Lawrence Kerr, and Lauren Kerr, who will miss their grandfather's gentle guidance and the twinkle in his eye when he shared his knowledge with them.

Craig was preceded in death by his father, Gerald B DeVane, his mother, Carolyn Weeks, and his brothers, Burt and Kyle DeVane. Each of them played a significant role in his life, shaping the man he became.

Those who knew Craig would describe him as the epitome of handy and friendly. His ability to connect with people was as natural as his skill in repairing and creating. His laughter was infectious, and his presence could light up a room. Craig's life was a reflection of the well-known quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Indeed, Craig's life was a succession of such triumphs, as he made life easier and more joyful for many.

As we say goodbye to Craig DeVane, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to influence generations. His friendly demeanor and handy nature will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring smiles to the faces of his family and friends. Craig's life was a beautiful mosaic of love, laughter, and service, and his story will be told with fondness and admiration for years to come.
