Mrs. Carolyn E. Cook, affectionately known as Carolyn to her loved ones, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on July 21, 1936, in Plant City, Florida, Carolyn's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her deep love for her family, and her commitment to serving her community.
Carolyn's early years in Plant City were filled with the warmth of a tight-knit community and the love of her family. She carried that sense of belonging and care with her as she moved through life.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Cook, her cherished great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Worrell, and her dear brother, Jim Hicks, Carolyn's legacy is carried on by her devoted children, Karen (Donnie) Young and Rick (Trish) Worrell. She was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren, a delighted great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren, and a joyful great-great-grandmother to two great-great-grandchildren. Each of them was a precious jewel in the crown of her life, reflecting the love and nurturing she so freely gave.
Carolyn's work life was as much a part of her community service as it was a career. She worked with dedication at Jim Hicks Custom Cut Meats, where her brother Jim and she contributed to the local economy and provided a warm, friendly service to their customers. Her work ethic and kindness were hallmarks of her time there, leaving a lasting impression on all who worked alongside her.
A faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church, Carolyn's Christian beliefs were the cornerstone of her existence. Her involvement in church outreach programs showcased her commitment to faith in action, as she sought to extend a hand of support and compassion to those in need. Her gentle spirit and loving nature were evident in every task she undertook, making her a cherished member of her church family.
Carolyn's interests outside of work and church were centered around the hearth and home. She had a passion for cooking and baking, especially cakes, which brought joy to many family gatherings and church events. Her recipes and the love that went into them will be fondly remembered and replicated by those who were fortunate to experience her culinary delights.
Described as faith-filled, loving, and gentle, Carolyn's influence extended far beyond her immediate circle. Her kindness touched the lives of many, and her gentle spirit was a calming presence to those fortunate enough to know her. She lived her life as a reflection of her beliefs, and her actions spoke volumes of her character.
As we say goodbye to Mrs. Carolyn E. Cook, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and cherish the memories she leaves behind. Her passing is not an end but a transition to eternal life, where she will surely continue to watch over us with the same love and grace she embodied on earth.
