Brian Weston Payson, affectionately known as "Yankee" by those who knew him best, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, at the age of 64 in Temple Terrace. Born on November 26, 1961, in Bangor, Maine, he was a man whose presence was as comforting as the steady hum of a lighthouse in his beloved coastal hometown.
Yankee was the cherished son of William Payson, who survives him, and the late Geraldine Payson. His life was a testament to the strength and love of his family. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Natasha Pinkerton and her husband Donnie, Shayla Payson, and Katie Kesler and her husband Brian. His role as a grandfather was one he embraced with joy and pride, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter in the hearts of his five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his immediate family, Yankee is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Bill Payson, Bruce Payson, and Deb Payson, who will continue to honor his memory by living out the values he held dear.
Yankee's professional life as an electrician was marked by dedication and skill. His work illuminated the lives of many, both literally and metaphorically, as he was always ready to lend a hand or share his expertise. His involvement in various associations within his field demonstrated his commitment to his craft and his desire to contribute to the betterment of his community.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Yankee was a man of simple pleasures and deep passions. He loved to fish, finding solace in the quietude of nature and the thrill of the catch. Those who accompanied him on these serene outings will forever cherish the memories of the sun dancing on the water and the sound of his laughter mingling with the gentle lapping of the waves.
Yankee will be remembered as a loving and kind soul, a man whose generosity knew no bounds. His warmth and kindness were the hallmarks of his character, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He approached life with a gentle grace and a heart full of compassion, leaving an indelible mark on the world.
As we bid farewell to Yankee, we take solace in the knowledge that his spirit will continue to guide us, just as the constellations have guided sailors back to the safety of harbor. His memory will be a beacon of love and kindness, shining brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Brian Weston Payson's life was a journey of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
