Betty Joyce Dodd

Betty Joyce Dodd, age 89, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on August 16, 2026. She was born on August 12, 1937, in Tampa, Florida, and lived a life marked by love, kindness, faith, and devotion to her family and community.

Betty was the daughter of the late William Gafford and Buford White. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, James A. Dodd, as well as her daughter, Joyce Sheffield, and her siblings, Linda Adams, Eloise Cannington, and Horton Gafford. Though she experienced the loss of many dear loved ones, her life remained a lasting example of strength, grace, and enduring affection for those around her.

She is survived by her son, Allen Dodd and his wife Dayaris, and by her siblings, Charlotte Murray, Judy Hamilton, and Ernest Gafford, her daughter- in- law Krystal Bright. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Amberlyn Dodd, James Sheffield, Nathan Mueller, and Hector Cortes, along with ten great-grandchildren. Betty treasured her family deeply, and her presence brought comfort, warmth, and encouragement to those who knew her best.

Betty spent many years working in the dental supply field, where she sold and managed dental supplies for Patterson Dental Supply. She was respected for her dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic. In all that she did, she carried herself with quiet professionalism and a genuine care for others, leaving a positive impression on coworkers and those she served.

Faith was an important part of Betty's life. She was a member of Fowler Avenue Baptist Church and loved being part of her church family. Her love for the Lord was reflected in the way she lived, and she found joy and strength in her faith. She appreciated the fellowship, comfort, and sense of belonging that church provided throughout her life.

In her free time, Betty enjoyed simple pleasures that brought her happiness. She loved to play solitaire, browse yard sales, and spend time at church. These interests reflected her cheerful spirit and her appreciation for the little things in life. She found joy in everyday moments and shared that joy with others through her loving and kind nature.

Betty Joyce Dodd will be remembered as a loving and kind woman whose life touched many hearts. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with her and the example she set through her compassion, faith, and devotion. Her legacy lives on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Haught Funeral Home, 708 W. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd Plant City, FL 33563.
