Robbie Jarvis Hildreth passed away October 18, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC at the age of 99. She was born in Greenwood, FL on July 11, 1919, the daughter of William Bennie and Robbie Boone Jarvis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Malcolm Forrest Hildreth, as well as 7 brothers, Talmadge, Byron, Ben, Winston, Tom, Carey and Ralph Jarvis.
Surviving is a daughter, Sandra Hildreth Keller (Neal) of Hampstead, NC, a son, Robert F. “Bob” Hildreth (Joyce) of Tallahassee, FL, 3 grandchildren, Elliot Hildreth of Alexandria, VA, Kevin Keller (Suzanne Altobello) of Hampstead, NC and Kirsten Keller Boehmer (Shannon) of Hampstead, NC.
Also surviving are 2 great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Sydney Keller, 2 step great-grandchildren, Julia and Sophia Nasco of Hampstead, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robbie was a graduate of Plant City High School and a life-long faithful member of First Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school, playing the piano, and singing in the choir. She was a life-long resident of Plant City, but moved to North Carolina to live with her daughter after the death of her husband.
She was a member of the Bougainvillea Garden Club for 25 years, winning numerous award ribbons, including a blue ribbon for her staghorn ferns at the Strawberry Festival. She was also a member of the Town and Country Garden Club. In 1938, she was a runner-up to the Strawberry Festival Queen, Norma Robinson. She was also in the queen’s court in 1937.
Robbie and her late husband loved to travel after his retirement. They traveled to every state except Hawaii.
The family will receive friends from 10-11am, Friday, October 26, 2018, Haught Funeral Home, 708 W. M. L. King Blvd, Plant City, FL. With a funeral service to follow at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
