James Edward Duke

James Edward Duke, age 93, of Plant City, FL passed away on February 21, 2018. He was the son of the late Joseph and Pearla Hasty Duke. Survivors include his beloved wife Martha Knight Duke, Children: Janis (Ray) Wood, James (Jan) Duke II, Jayne (Dennis) Herndon, Joyne (Steve) Mathis. Sister: Mildred Nall, grandchildren: Stacy Mulkey, J.D. and Josh Duke, Annie Haney, Stevie and Haylee Mathis, great grandchildren: Charlie Wood, and Isla Haney. James was also preceded in death by siblings: Nettie Kilpatrick and Harold Duke. James was an active member of the Eastside Baptist Church, where he served the Lord faithfully. He enjoyed ministering to all and especially the children of the church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and Korea. James retired from Publix where he was a truck driver and driver trainer. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and took great pride in his yard. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Eastside Baptist Church, 1318 E. Calhoun St., Plant City, FL 33563. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 PM.
