Gene Thomas "Tommie" Lane

Gene Thomas "Tommie" Lane, age 76, of Plant City, FL passed away on September 28, 2019. A native of Plant City, Florida, he was son of the late Fred M. and Dollie Brock Lane. Survivors include his wife; Carol McDaniel Lane; daughter Lynda Kaye (J. Bruce) Vaughn; grandchildren James B. (Katalyn) Vaughn of Germany and Rhianna K. Vaughn of Tallahassee. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Fred Lane, and son James McDaniel Lane. Tommie was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, attended Cork Academy when it was a strawberry school, and graduated from Plant City High School. He worked at W. R. Grace for about ten years, then went to Tampa Independent Dairy Farmers Association before building a feed store in the Cork area. He retired as owner-operator of Lane’s Feed Store after many years. He loved his children and grandchildren, work and customers, listening to jokes, reading the encyclopedia, travel, and country music. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 5, 2019, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Haught Funeral Home, 708 W Dr MLK Jr Boulevard, Plant City Florida 33563.
