Elmer "Jinx" Givens Obituary

Elmer “Jinx” Givens 88 of Plant City passed away March 8, 2018.

Born in Rehobeth, Alabama, he was the son of the late William T. “Pappy” Givens and Anna Lee “Nanny” Outlaw Givens. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Fay Champion Givens.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Tom Givens.

His survivors are children, Robin Johnson (Howard), Tim Givens; grandchildren, Justin (Megan), Emily (Alex), Max (Celi), Rhiane (Bobby), Leilyn, Celestina, Willie; great grandchildren, Avery, Drake, Kirian, Hailey, Bobby, Jr, Kaileb, and Jadeyn.

Jinx was handy. He could build anything from just an idea. He had careers with Publix and Scottys to name just a few. He was retired from Weeki Wachee Christian Camp after 15 years as its caretaker in 2016. He was a member of the church of Christ and a US Navy veteran.

There will be a graveside service Wednesday March 14, 2018 at 11:30am, Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with military honors.

If desired, donations may be made to Weeki Wachee Christian Camp in Jinx’s memory.
